I feel like posting but don't have the energy to do so. Enjoy my children instead.

Bad Mommy Day
It's a bad mommy day, I know you've all had one-don't hide!
The girls-note the plural-were up last night taking turns driving me mad from the hours of 2-4:30. Those, my dear friends, are strictly reserved for SLEEPING. Thing got so out of control that DH woke up and got a baby. They managed to wake Papa Bear, OH MY! It's going to snow! Which ironically, it is going to snow. The day before the wedding and it could potentially be a large storm, just wonderful. Anyhow...I'm sleepy exhausted and have no motivation to finish my endless to-do list. Which means this evening I will be finishing laundry, washing diapers, soaking covers, sewing dresses, making slippers and tending to babies and possibly a husband. The best part of my laziness-it being rewarded! HA! I knew he loved me. In light of the rough evening, DH has decided that we will be eating out. Meaning no cooking, no dishes, no mayhem. Of course the flip side is I have to ready babies, bottles, and my shopping list. Why my shopping list? If I have an extra set of hands AND I am out in public I am going to make damn good use of that time!
Oh the point of this post, because I like to make them all have a point, is the girls. They are in their crib. We have done nothing this morning. It has been a big play/nap fest! Now as I'm blogging in my PJ's eating leftover spaghetti (HEAVEN) the girls are sharing Emma's crib, some toys and each other's company. At some point today I must pull myself together, really, this is ridiculous! I'm such a bad mommy.
Oh and cereal, thanks for all your input! But as it turns out, I'm giving up for the time being. If I have to fight them , then they're not ready. It will be cereal bottles for bed time and crossed fingers for a quiet night! We'll see what the good doctor tells us next week. Crap another appointment, just as I had healed from the last one!

Cereal Anyone?
It's only been a week and I shouldn't fret too much but I am worried that the girls will never eat. They don't seem interested in the least, I'm pretty much force feeding them. Well not that extreme but you get the picture. I'm not sure if I should keep at it or just drop it and try again later? Thoughts? I plan on asking when we finally get to their 6 month check up next week. I know there is no rush to eat solids but I'm all about sleeping at night and not waking up to a fussy baby. Emma eats much better than Claire when she does eat and for some reason I am really opposed to doing something with one and not the other. I feel like Claire is being left out. Oh well, everything in time.
This Sunday my aunt is getting married again. To put this in perspective, when I was discussing getting them a gift card DH ask "what do we get someone who makes 3 times my salary-and your aunt?" I didn't have the heart to tell him Marc makes 4 times his salary. LOL. It's amazing what a law degree will get you! So anyhow, I have my dress hemmed, the girls dresses are just about done, shoes purchased and now I'm pondering two things-how to not look quite so fat and how the hell to keep everyone warm! Did I mention the ceremony is OUTSIDE! Yes, outside is nice, the old buildings, la la la-IT'S WINTER! According to the weather man it will be, um, cold! At least the reception will be entertaining, you have to love when different classes of people mix. Awkward at best! Especially since this relationship arose from the affair of two married people, something my mother just cannot get over. Even though my aunt is marrying a younger man, she still hasn't top the age gap the DH and I set. I'm sure we'll get plenty of looks, we always do. Hopefully now they are for the girls and not for us!! I just hope my sister behaves herself and dresses appropriately, that my parents dress for the even and that I am sat no where near them!
Oh, and I would like to thank my banana for telling me I'm fat.

Ok, off to get Emma. Apparently naps are optional!

So Cereal
Not such a hit at my house. Emma is getting the hang of food. It's only been a few days though. Claire is perfectly content with milk. She seems to have no desire to open her mouth for a finger full of goop! This morning I was eating a banana and had the bright idea to smash it up. Emma was sooo surprised! Then she was willing to eat and eat so I'm beginning to think that once they have some flavor they might be more excited about eating.
I'm a little depressed that the introduction of cereal hasn't helped the sleeping situation. Depressed isn't the word, more like pissed off. Come on kids! Mama need her sleep! I don't know how I survived when they didn't sleep, this is killer. Sometimes I lay in bed and let them cry hoping that they'll be struck with the brilliant idea to stop and go back to sleep till morning. I am such a bad mom sometimes.
Sorry for the lame post. I have to go get ready for our next adventure in food, then off to work. Blah. Happy Birthday to Samantha and Mia! Welcome to the world!

Happy Fondue Day
Adult conversation, flirtation, silly drunken laughter-this is what birthdays are about once you have children. For the first time in 6 months, well 10 months almost because pregnant dinners still focused on babies, we were ourselves again.

I fed my fatness and loved every bite! Fondue I love you! Forget cake and ice cream, this is where the party is.
Of course it was very strange and depressing to drop the girls off for an evening with my cousin and her husband. I really felt as though we were abandoning them, that they were not welcome to our party. For this special occasion we were not a family. But it all worked out in the end and we had a wonderful meal. It was good to relax, to be a couple again. As much as I love my husband, and as much as he deserved this meal, I'm glad that it won't happen regularly. The entire time we both thought about the girls.
The ride there we took the scenic route and the last time we had driven that particular road was exactly a year before on his last birthday-only we were headed to the clinic to discover the source of a bleeding scare and make sure we were still pregnant. Last time we ate at that restraunt was on my birthday, and I had just began to show (all of 12 weeks!) and made a total pig of myself eating TWO dessert plates. As much as I wanted tonight to be all about him, I discover that no matter how hard we tried we are a family now. Those sweet little bundles are forever in my heart-even when mama need a good glass of wine and some adult conversation!

Grown Up Birthdays
On the top shelf of my fridge, sandwiched between a pump bottle full of BM and a teething ring you'll find DH's birthday greeting. Not a card, not a gift, just a picture on his lunch bag.
Note the picture...a friendly reminder that the end of his work day holds a birthday dinner- The Melting Pot! I'm not an artist, just the CFO,COO and CEO of the house! Growing up is no fun, what happen to the carefree days??

Yes or No
Sometimes, well a lot of the time, I need clear cut answers. This time the question is are the girls ready for food? I've browsed the internet, googled my life away, and come with with-I dunno! Developmentally they seem ready, they can sit well when supported and have head control. They'll be 6 months on the 20th and don't really show any signs of prematurity. The maybe a tad on the small side but they're in 6-9 month clothes and HEAVY according to these tired arms. So what is holding me back is that they seem content. They don't seem to want any more in they're diet. They aren't starving! They don't reach for or show curiosity in my food, possibly because I scarf it down before anyone can disturb me.
Currently they are taking 7.5/8.5 (E/C)per bottle 4 times a day. Thats 30-34 ounces a day and the figure that keeps popping up 20-24 ounces a day which worries me that I'm stuffing them and I'll end up on Maury with obese babies! So if food will drop the bottle amounts down I'm game! I could possibly be able to ditch formula and use only BM! I'm so cheap thrifty!
In other news I'm altering *FREE* dresses for my cousin and I. I used the extra fabric to make the girls' dresses. I would sooooo love a seamstress job! I'd also love to be independently wealthy but that doesn't seem likely to ever happen. Emma has almost got the crawling bug. HELP! Claire is more content to learn to sit and play with a toy. They actually like toys now, I'm so thrilled. Before they had no interest in toys and I so worried that they were going to fall behind. I always have to have something to worry about. I wish I could just let go.... I did manage to make a bunch of calls and scratch almost everything off my list! Their 6 month check up is scheduled for Feb. 2, 2 weeks late. Maybe that will get them out of the flu shot! I hate them getting so many shots. I should really learn to trust doctors. LOL. Hope everyone is well!

I Don't Like Super-Mommy Moments
No really, I don't. I can't believe I made it to almost 6 months before I had one, but it scared the bejesus out of me!! I'm in the family room sorting laundry-how glamorous. The dogs are bouncing around and the babies are on their mat playing with their hanging toys, everyone is happy and content. Then the dog start sniffing at the baby. I notice she gave a little cough, then another. So I looked up from my sorting, because that's what the books say to do-pay attention, and I see dear Emma red as a beet and not really breathing and little tears were in her eyes! HOLY CRAP! I reach over and yank her up by her hand and smack her back and totally freak for all of a minute. Then she lets out a loud hack and is fine. Nothing in her mouth, no spit up. I'm sure it wasn't as dramatic in real life as it was in my mind, but she was SOOO RED and NOT BREATHING. Her little eye brows and nose stayed red for about a minute, but no crying. All the while I'm paying no attention to Claire who was totally oblivious and entranced in her octopus.
So yeah, Emma is now in a bouncer by my side while Claire is fending for herself. If the Super-Mommy Fairy is reading-thanks for stopping by! Next time just leave me a jar of your magical dust and save yourself the future trips!

WTF Wednesday
So I'm a copy cat-shoot me. Here is my WTF moments of the week, enjoy!
- I didn't wash diapers last night-WFT-more work today!
- I have cut the girls nails twice this week-WTF
- Orion(old dog) has killer gas and likes to lay in bed with his ass near your head-seriously-WTF?!?!
- Orion decided that tagging the girl's jumper was necessary-WFT
- I have a pimple on the inside of my nose where my glasses sit-OUCHIE!-WTF
- I got a free dress-super nice- for my aunt's wedding and decided to alter it and use the extra fabric to make dresses for the girls-WTF-I'm nuts!
- Lastly, DH's birthday is the 22 and so far I've gotten-a sitter and no ideas-WTF
So today I need to start ripping dresses and planning out dresses and I think I'll make some fleece ponchos for the girls! Maybe that's a little to ambitious.

Little Moments
This is what gets me in trouble! Claire didn't want to go to sleep and Emma was out. She started on my chest and wiggled her way into the crook of my arm and was out before I knew it.
The problem now is that she is zonked, but if I move she'll wake up. I'm sure she'll fall right back to sleep but I love having them sleep with me, I love feeling them breathe and feeling their warmth. So instead here we sit. Her asleep, me pecking at the keyboard one handed and the laundry not being folded!

Someone Needs To Get On Me!
I have a to-do list that is seriously 27 miles long! I keep putting it off, and putting it off. In no particular order I need to:
- Call the doctor to set up the girls 6 month appt.
- Call the insurance company to convince them to cover the girls NICU bills since I never turned in the paper work...again, I'm a slacker!
- Make the girls' dresses for my aunt's wedding.
- Find a half million dollars.
- Research baby cereal and decide what I'm doing with this whole food introduction business.
- Re-caulk the bath tub.
- Move the deck chairs.
- Get a new recycle can.
- Call the county!
What would I call the county you ask? One word. Two instances. RATS. So so SO gross! I saw two dead rats. I totally freaked. So nasty and dirty. There is no open trash or food sources, we live in a strictly residential neighborhood, we live in a clean and nice neighborhood(excluding the ass next door that likes to beat his girlfriend) so where do they come from?? Everyone says to get traps but why on earth would I want to catch it? So I am going to put my tax dollars to work for me-HAHA! They did such a great job fixing the street and gas lines....
It's not 10:36 and I haven't worked out. I am desperately trying not to eat, which I am most likely going to cave on, and planning my vegetable garden certainly isn't helping! I'm thinking tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet potatoes, some romaine and maybe carrots. Anyone have any other suggestions? I am going to be canning with my aunt and I am super excited about that!!

30 Day Challenge & Battery Acid
Tonight we start our 30 day challenge. Yesterday "santa" went out and finally bought Wii Active! My hopes are not that there will be less mama to love, just a less fluffy mama. I think that is reasonable. It's gotten great ratings and I am actually pretty excited. I just hope I stick with it, I have no drive when it comes to just about everything!
I also started a new budget and hope to keep everything on track like I used to. I have gotten way too relaxed about everything since the girls came along and it's really starting to show! When I find myself complaining about things I've let go, or anything really, whomever I'm complaining to seem to think it's perfectly acceptable because I've got two babies to handle. How is it ok to not balance your checkbook/clean up the yard/sort clothes because you have twins? I'm the slacker, the girls have little to do with that!
Speaking of the two little ones, we started a new game today. Screaming. Screaming for the sake of screaming. Screaming because I found that my voice has volume and it gets your attention. The first two hours were fun, and then after nap time it got a little old...still cute, just a little repetitive. The girls have also started to make their own schedules, which isn't meshing well with my schedule. I'm desperately trying to keep some order!! Oh, oh, OH!!! Emma rolled over today! All by herself! While my back was turned changing a diaper-figures. I heard her though, she used her head as a bowling ball and knocked over the two empty bottles! That's my girl!
In other news around the house, my county is starting a streamline recycling program that has me over-the-moon excited!! I know, I know, who else get excited over recycling?! Well currently bottles and paper alternate weeks, which means that at any given time there is at least a weeks worth of recycling sitting in my breakfast nook! Since I've started drinking what seems like a gallon of milk a day, there are about a million milk jugs sitting around waiting to go out. No longer!!! Out it all goes, one less thing to clutter my house! It really doesn't take much to make me happy! Off to bake some cookies...that should help with the dieting LOL!
Last-battery acid + hardwood floor = unhappy mama
We have vibrating bouncers that haven't vibrated in quite a while. They still serve their purpose and the girls never really seemed to care one way or the other. Plus there are never any spare D batteries laying around. So today I move the stack of bouncers to sweep and one is dripping yellow liquid. Of course my first thought is that the bouncer has peed through it's diaper...then I came to my senses and realized it was battery acid. So I initially wiped it up with a paper towel and then went back with a wet one and finally a clorox wipe. That really should have been the end accept... there is virtually no finish on my almost 100 year old floors! Yep, they're original and look as horrible as you're imagining! Full of nicks, spots, scratches and other charms. Now I can add big black smear and some black dots to that list of charming qualities. I think I leave a letter for the pergo fairy....

After the Babies...
So here's a question for all the mommies...and yes it's personal so prepare yourself for T.M.I.!
Everyone warned me that while I was pregnant I would probably begin to pee myself. Others said it would last and carry on the rest of my life. Well I'm glad to say that I never peed myself, excluding them time in the hospital after surgery when my panties got stuck on the velcro of my brace! However, now I get no advanced warning! Seriously! None! Today I was in the store and it was just *poof* I HAVE TO PEE RIGHT NOW!!!
It was like this after the girls were born and I just told myself it would sort itself out. I said that about a lot of things, like my waist line! I'm discovering that some stuff just isn't going away! So does anyone else have this problem?? Any other problems?? I seem to have a whole sack of problem and I don't want to go to the doctor to have them laugh at me for being a worry wart! So tell me, what has changed for you?

Ready to Scream
It's not the babies. It's not even my husband. It's not being in the house all day or not having bucket loads of money to buy stuff I don't need. It's the dogs. Evil 1 and Evil 2! They are being so ornery today. It start with the younger dog, Kenton. Happy, energetic, FULL OF LIFE! Kenton wouldn't go to the bathroom outside, but he'd whine every 30 minutes and I'd let him out! We've been playing this game for 4 hours!!! Every time I go to let Kenton out, Orion hurls his big ole' body down the stairs to go out too. Every 30 minutes, for the last 4 hours. Did I mention Orion is bigger than I am, I swear it! He's old and grouchy, sore and tired. That is unless he is out when the mailman comes. Then he is out for blood! Hackles up, teeth gnashing, barking his head off. Of course if he were inside he would let the mailman in the house to pick it dry, but Orion will ferociously guard the poo in the backyard!
Get the picture?
The picture gets better, because Kenton likes to occupy himself with getting into the bathroom trash as of recent. Don't know why, just all of the sudden there is nothing better than tissues and Q-tips. So as I am feeding the babies lunch I hear it. The dreaded dog heaves. And he's laying in MY BED! So I drop the bottles (I was in the nursery) and chase him out. We run downstairs and I'm thinking he'll run to the back door and out in the yard to yak up whatever tissue/grass/twig didn't settle with him. OH NO! He ran to the basement and puked in the family room. On the carpet. And for fun tagged it. Which made old faithful come down and tag it as well, because after all this is his house and we're all just allowed to live in it. So now I get to scrub out a pee covered, puke spot!
Did I mention I have two babies to take care of? Laundry to do? Dishes? An entire house to clean??? Thank you Kenton, you made my day! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

The New Year
...was rung in with true new parent style-bed by 9! Oh we're such old people now! I did manage to get us up in time for the ball drop. 2009 was full of uncharted waters, waters I will hold forever in my mind. It will go down as the year of baby. That of course implies the year the savings died, I stopped working, and DH realigned his priorities in life. Even though 2009 brought incredible changes, I'm sure 2010 will have even more.
I can't imagine two babies teething, moving, walking...oy! Their first 'insert memorable event here' will be happening all the time. Hopefully they'll get some hair! I've spent a lot of time staring at them and at pictures trying to imagine what they'll look like with hair. I hope they carry on their new morning routine, they are so happy in the morning. They don't want to eat right away and will babble in the cribs. I love to listen, it's a wonderful sound to wake to.

With all these changes, the coming year leaves me a little sad as well. My babies are growing up! They were sooo tiny, and now they are getting too big! LOL! I wish they would stay small and sweet forever. It's sad to think of these as our only children. How greedy is that? All the blood, sweat and tears to get here and I'm already to go again! Does anyone else get that way? I loved being pregnant and I love the girls, I can't help but want more. I guess babies are a little like candy, once you get a taste...
Not being one for resolutions and having absolutely no discipline, I'll refrain from making any promises for the upcoming year, wishes are better. I'd like to leave a message for the money and weight loss fairies out there in the blogosphere - come see me SOON!! If mother nature is listening, please let my garden grow and if I have a fairy godmother, I'd love another miracle-or two! ;)
