I searched my mind high and low. I have decided, undecided, and re-decided. I really though my word was going to be today.
As in focusing on what I can get done today, focusing on what's around me at the moment. My word last year was action, and I felt that worked well. I did take action on a lot of things, but I still kept my head in the clouds a bit too much. The more I focused on my life right now, the heavier things became. I don't do heavy. I don't like things feeling complicated or out of control. I also have a small problem over thinking everything. Ok, small is an understatement. I still let my mind wander more than I like, but if my mind is wandering and cooking up plans I must not be too stressed... right?
So as I was talking to myself in the shower, I kept coming back to how complicated things are. Possibly it's just how complicated I'm making them, but they stress me none the less. From the ladies starting school, to working on my marriage, to figuring out what I want to be when I grow up; life's demands are growing exponentially.
I need to simplify.
This is the year of simple.
I hope it serves me well. :)

Last Day
It's the last day of the month, and thanks to the shenanigans of the last two weeks, I've got nothing to show for this month! I have the following on my list:
- a toilet that needs replacing
- a broken dishwasher
- unwashed "sick" laundry
- 4" of dust throughout the house
- groceries still out from delivery day
- dirty floors
- dirty dogs
- a craft area in disarray
- cluttered toys
- christmas decorations STILL in my bedroom
- christmas plant still in need of a planter
- mail clutter
- mail devil's christmas gift
- 2013 word
Sadly I can't think of much that I have accomplished this month! Sigh. Hopefully by tonight I'll have my word posted. Maybe I'll even start decluttering the house....maybe!

Sickness
The story holds true! I am, in fact, still alive!!
This is much to my surprise because I thought FOR SURE that what I was experiencing last week was the throws of death, or maybe the 5th circle of hell. Either way, I was positive that it was the end for me. Never have I been so miserable. I didn't know temperatures went that high without you convulsing and talking to pink elephants. My elephant was blue and named James incase you're curious.
I knew I was sick, and hind sight being twenty-twenty, I thought I just needed to rest and hydrate. Only I couldn't hydrate and things spiraled. Blah. I'll spare you the details. I made it out though, and 11 days later I'm still trying to rehydrate. Why can't hellmart offer an IV center?
What's more, I HAVEN'T HAD MILK IN 11 DAYS!
People! This is serious! Milk is my elixir for life. I drink it all day, everyday. Milk priced just dropped .20 cents and I haven't taken advantage!! I feel like I don't know who I am. What will I do with all these bottles of chocolate syrup? Am I really going to drink water and tea like some kind of adult?! I whipped up a glass of delicious chocolate milk yesterday morning and nothing, I couldn't get a sip down.
Furthermore, I ventured out today to lunch with the ladies and we rant into some friends. Their talk was all about how sickly I looked. How much weight I've lost and how my appearance seems gaunt. Fantastic. Can I get a hoagie? Here I was thrilled that there wasn't vomit in my hair and my kidneys weren't crying...
But life goes on right? The ladies have to know that there will once again be family dinner, and that fruit snacks are not a food group. They will be reminded that there is a schedule, rules to be followed, and parents to be respects instead of these sickly, gray creatures who settle them with granola bars and ipads. Most of all, I need to pick up where I left off two weeks ago before this house falls to pieces! If I don't get a new dishwasher my marriage may fail!!

Dear Plague
Dear Plague that has invaded my house and body,
You were not invited, nor are you welcome. Never in my life have I felt so completely miserable. I was unaware my temperature could still rise to such levels! You have caused me to miss work and send my children away. So I'm demanding you leave the premises!
Sincerely,
A Rapidly Fading Me

WTH?
Seeeeeeriously? Had I not been texting with cousin I would have missed this photo op!!
So my sweet, and getting sick, Emma woke up an hour early from nap. Really kid? This time is sacred! She proceeds to stand in front of me pushing her hair from her face and repeating, what I thought was:
" this hair won't go away!"
Huh? Come again?
I hold my hands semi out in confusion. She repeats and leans in. She deposits. She was saying ham, as in the single bite of ham I made her try at lunch 3 hours ago.
Sigh.

Just A Reminder
Sometimes I need a simple reminder, a refresher if you will, before I fly off the handle and all sorts of craziness rains down. Where does this come from?
Well thanks to all you morons that voted for Obama and O'Malley, I am now down $33.60 every pay. Bullshit. Tired of paying for lazy unemployed people plus their 8 kids, and illegal aliens. Unbelievable!
Dear RidiculouslyFunnyPersonIWentToHighSchoolWith, shut the fuck up! It's posts like this that make me wish I had a job schooling people on life and the ways of the world. And by job I mean one that pays and is subsequently taxed. I would love educate, inform, and berate people on what they should know and help expand their horizons. Partially because I enjoy watching people shrivel in their own stupidity but mostly because people love to complain without understand, and worse, complain without subsequent action.
Yes, I strongly support a small and limited government. No, I'm not a Democrat or die-hard Obama supporter. Yes, I am well aware the system, which ever one we're specifically discussing, is greatly flawed and destined to fail. No one likes money "disappearing" from their pay, the more the merrier right? In response to this particular post, and the many others like it, what are you doing about it?
I can't say I'm picketing the government to change, and no I'm not particularly thrilled to be losing the equivalent of my new car payment each month. The system(s) is/are, as I see it, flawed beyond repair and I'm sure many agree. I have chosen to just let it slide. You can't take your money with you when you go. However, you can make the best of the time you have.
So as I continue my struggle to find the perfect word for 2013, I leave you with this.
A simple reminder that I love and I'm sure you've seen before.
I think I'll print it.

Saturday Photo Challenge- Faces
Cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater! I chose 6!
But only because one isn't human, so I'm in the clear.
I was stuck in a rut, not wanting to totally repeat past photos I intended to take more pictures. That didn't happen though. There is just something about cold weather. Thankful Picasa has a face feature, so I scrolled through with ease! That almost left you with adorable baby pictures, and lots of crying pictures. Oh how I love when they cry and fuss, well not so much love but it's so entertaining!
I love how these picture capture their personalities!
Em
SIL & baby
M- neighbor girl.
So jealous of those lashes!
Claire T. Bear
100% HAM
(Environment and all!)
Mr. Monkey!
So sound off, what do you like best?!
In other news, I was the epitome of health this morning having pepperonis and chocolate for breakfast. The ladies are tending to baby crocodiles under the dining room table and I think DH is worried for his sanity in this house! Have a great weekend!

Going Strong
Now that the holidays have passed and the festivities have settled, it's time to hunker down. We have an alphabet that still needs work!
More importantly, I need to get a feel for homeschool. Yup, I said it, homeschool.
No, I'm not a completely controlling and overbearing momma who won't let her ladies out of her sight. Ok, part of that may be true. I'm just not settled nor satisfied with what I see coming from our public school system, specifically the schools our ladies are zoned for. All along I held fast to this pipe dream that DH would have them placed at a better school and everything would be hunky-dory. That could still hold true, but what has me nervous is that there are no guarantees.
As a teacher he could apply to enroll the ladies at a school near where he teaches. That is what the program seems like it was intended for, teachers and personnel who teach far from home. However like all deals, there are rules and restrictions. F the school the ladies are placed near DH reach capacity, they are booted to their home school. If DH changes schools, they get booted. If they pose any challenges, they get booted. How heart broken would I be if they got the boot? Leaving your friends and having to re-establish is not what every elementary school child dreams of.
Further more, I don't want to sentence DH to working another 15 years in the same school. Especially since this school is THE FARTHEST school from our house. Yay 75 mile round trip each day! He already likes to tote out the line about his eligibility for retirement...
I've been wrestling with homeschool for a while. I don't want to raise "the weird, homeschool kids" and I don't want to limit them educationally or socially. I should also mention that affording a great private school without strong religious ties is out of our budget, although I think Claire would love to wear a Catholic school girl uniform. LOL
So why not try out the local school first? Well, it's terrible. And just to wave my snotty, elitist flag; it's full of children the ladies can't relate to. That's being gentle. It's not that I want them to avoid any certain people in life, I just strongly feel that in this school education might not be the first priority. As thus, I would be doing a disservice to my children. Oh how woefully pretentious I sound!
So does anyone else have the same worries? Am I just being over protective?
More importantly, how much does environment affect education and retention?
Oh how I would love to pack up and head to the Netherlands!!

Do You Have A Style?
I have no style. No reoccurring theme that defines me. Nothing.
So why does this matter?
I'm beginning to hate my house. Full on hate that leaves me tossing at night. I'm beginning to think that living in a van down by the river isn't such a horrible idea! Since there is no move coming in the immediate future, I have to do something. I've resolved to decorate. I need some sense of pride to return to my house! I know it's a vicious cycle, but I just really need the change.
It then occurs to me I have no style.
I like everything I see on the design blogs and magazines. I like, but have yet to find true love! I know I love gray, but do I love a gray couch or gray walls? Maybe gray accessories?
I love my gray dogs!

But big gray dogs and new furniture give the hubs hives.
Speaking of the hubs, he's just over my whining about the house and is no help. It's also not much help that he and I cringe at each others choices. He's all modern-bright colors-clean lines. I don't hate modern, but ohmahgawd the colors this man picks! I know I don't like his colors, and he's not a fan of mine.
So add this the my 2013 To-Do List, and throw some ideas my way!!
I might just have to buy something, anything, to jump start me! Or maybe I'll start with finishing those baseboards...

January Goals
Grrrrrr.... Blogger ate my post. That's big news because I typed it out on the iPad. Marcia, I completely understand now.
So for December I accomplished all but one of my goals! Can you say miracle?!
I also have no faith my baseboards will ever be finished, but I did just spot a corner cupboard on Craigslist that may save me some repair work! Maybe finishing projects one at a time should be a life goal...lol! I'm not sure I could function if I wasn't up to my neck in to-do lists!
So on to January.

Fresh Start
It's the first day of the new year and I've done nothing to wrap up the last year.
NOTHING. AT. ALL.
No financial wrap up. No new word to ring in 2013. Not even a goal list for January.
I want to say I feel terrible, horribly out of sorts. I want to tell you I have plans to sort everything before my head hits the pillow. I want to look like a put-together, functioning adult.
Instead I'll offer up that I had some very competitive games of candy land. I'll tell you my ladies are clinging to their father and still thriving despite lapsing from our normal schedule. I had an impromptu date night with the hubs and it was slow, easy, and blissfully uneventful. The last two weeks have been full of life and I'm going to need a few days to inch myself back into the grind! Especially after the fog-horn celebration to ring in New Years last night. Grrrrr....
DH returns to work tomorrow. Life returns to normal. And maybe, just maybe, I'll get around to finishing off last year and start this one.
Until then, Happy New Year!
