Saturday Burly Bingo

This weekend was insane!

I worked early shifts this weekend so I could have time after work to be part of the world outside my house! Amazing right? Well Saturday I was pushed into bingo. I did have fun and it was nice to get out and be an adult. Longaberger isn't really my style but I would have loved to win one for my MIL. Before we went to bingo I did the dreaded shopping trip with my mother and sister. Two and a half hours of my life in a burli.ngton.coat.fact.ory. That recently opened. During a big sale weekend. The weekend before easter. Shoot me in the face! My mother must be stupid. I mean that with love. Who takes kids into such madness?

So there I was with a double stroller trying to navigate this madness. This store is very much not my style but they did have some decent clothes. The girls ended up getting three outfits, three pairs of shoes, and a sleeper each. Did I mention it was a madhouse? And that I don't shop at store like this? I don't shop at that mall because honestly, it's trashy. It's run-down and unkept and very much not me. My displeasure was painfully obvious. I apparently was very red and short of breath on top of my cold which left my mother constantly asking if I was alright. Another aggravation in addition to my sister, yes the devil herself who was the root of this expedition. She works at said store and was eligible for a 25% discount-hence we were shopping there and then. After mother and devil took an hour to ponder childrens clothes I thought for sure I was free and clear. Turns out the devil needed work shoes and mother and I stood with babies(who are far heavier when you're sick and tired) while she pondered the same pair of shoes for 15 minutes. They didn't have her size when she started talking to the shoe boy....but I digress(HAHA she didn't have a chance!). Then I'm trudging to check out when I'm summoned to the juniors department. The devil needs some new slut-wear. Yes, I'm mean but rest assured it is totally justified. Think molded, form fitting, padded bra top, lace up, lacy, tramp wear. So gross. What is worse is my mother lets her wear it! I find myself saying all the time "My girls will never..." and boy was I taking notes! So finally almost two hours later we head to customer service who's line is wrapped through the two departments. People are checking out my children, I'm too agitated to talk and resort to nodding and shielding my children. I ended up with fussy babies and mother walking me to my car.

I should really be thankful, and I am. I do not like to shop at such places, I don't like crowds, I don't like people! I hate waiting, I hate lines, I hate box stores. I hate trash, crud and people who live questionable lifestyles. Call me snobby but I just like to think I hold the bar high. Had be gone to a nice side of town, a different mall, some place that isn't on a bus line that has massive security monitoring the doors that trip could have been much nicer. How can I tell my mother we can just come over? She literally lives 4 minutes away-walking! It takes longer to drive than to walk. I would even let the girls on her un-vacuumed floor! She doesn't have to buy our time like she does my sister. I'm the good child, please recognize this!

Tomorrow we are headed to the beach. When I get home I'll blog about MIL's 70's Semi-surprize party and post some pics! It did go smoothly and we are planning more family get togethers which I think is wonderful. I hope everyone had as wonderful a weekend as my family sans the shopping trip.

This week is spring break for DH so he will be home with us. Luckily he was today as my typical Monday bathroom cleaning turned into ripping the tub apart and some small home repairs. Mold-gross. Luckily I caught it in time and am super mom! Why are there windows in showers? Really? Lets think people! If we weren't leaving tomorrow I would have ripped out the tub surround and put in actual tile but I'm not willing to sacrifice a trip! Thanks to that fiasco we are only 7% packed and tomorrow I have to tidy the house and get everything ready! I can't come home to a dirty house! It's nearly midnight and I have to get up early to make sure everything is in order before we leave!

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not

Sometimes I wonder if my husband hates me.

He has plenty of reasons to hate my guts. Example, it's 11:30 p.m. and while I'm waiting to pump at midnight I am now blogging with the TV on (which he was watching) and the lamp on-all while he is trying sleeping. I wish I could say that I am not always to careless, but this is every night. While he can sleep though everything, I'm sure I annoy him. I also complain way too much, I get way too whiny. Did I mention he spoils me? He indulges me way to much, and I complain. Yup. He should hate my guts, or at least my face. So here's a little shout out to say-

"DH I love you and am super-dooper thankful for everything you do(so I don't have to)!

Now that that is out of the way, I'll be getting up in 5 hours to get ready to work. DH will play super dad till I get home around lunch time. Then the fun starts. Remember my sister the devil? I believe she has concocted some plan that I have fallen for. Tonight my mother texted me ask my plans for tomorrow. Hello, I work every weekend and she knows that I have plans for a basket bingo! How suburban-housewife of me but everyone has to get out! The follow of text kinda broke my heart, if I had a heart that her cold, miserable self could break.

Mom: "Would you and the girls come easter shopping with michelle and I, please?"

Did she have to add the please? What is with the formalities? She only texts when she wants something! I thought this relationship worked the other way around, aren't I suppose to call when I want something? Seriously, what is easter shopping? That is totally not on my to-do list. So I agreed. I felt bad. She said please! WTF? Then my ah-ha moment hit. Michelle is going. They want to see the girls. They want to buy the girls stuff for easter (hello I'm right here, buy me stuff too!) and then it really hits me. This is probably all a guise so my sister the devil can parade my children around her place of employment and she sold mother on the idea or held her at knife point. Both are plausible. Did I mention I hate the devil? What have I gotten myself into?

DH will be awaiting the arrival of his Papa while we are out. Nosey is coming to drop off the fixings for Oozy's birthday party! MIL is turning 70! Party time! Well I hope it is party time. I specifically asked to be off early in order to make the hour drive to SIL's house. Well I am scheduled to leave just as the party is starting. I can be fashionably late, however I dread taking two cars to the same destination, in another state, while leaving DH to transport party goods and babies and baby stuff. We all know where there are babies there is an ungodly amount of STUFF. What do you get someone who has everything? I vote a Kindle but DH says no. I need something that screams "I'm the coolest 70 year old on the block!"

Speaking of parties, I need to get planning! What is everyone else doing? Marcia?? July is coming up fast!

Kenny Loggins is coming to Pier 6 and I just got excited? It must be past my bedtime!

WTF Wednesday

Hark! In the darkness, beyond the milk encrusted lips and beneath the drooly tongue, what is that? Protruding from that bottom jaw?? A TOOTH!

WTF? Where was I? We're at dinner tonight, we ate out because I'm sick which makes me far lazier that my normal lazy self. Yummy Noo.dles.&.Co.! The girls get fussy in their chairs so out they go. DH is holding Claire and she grab hold of his cheese laden finger and chomp.

DH: "There's a tooth in there!"
ME: thinks to self Suuuure there is "Really? Like a real tooth or an "about to be almost kinda just at the surface but not yet broken through" tooth?"
DH: "It's there."

So we go about our evening, buy some baby clothes and some sinus meds and home we go. After bottles while we're getting ready for bed she grabs my finger. WTF? THERE IS A TOOTH! When did that happen? Oh that's right, I've been watching fuss pot Emma for the last week with her whining and chewing and drooling and "about to be almost kinda just at the surface but not yet broken through" tooth. Claire didn't have the tooth yesterday, it was still in the almost phase. So sometimes in the last 24 hours she has gained the ability to draw blood in a new way! GRRRREAT! Poor Em is still chugging along with her whiney kinda sorta wish this part would hurry up already tooth.

Lesson Learned: It's always when you're looking the other way! Time to break out the mesh feeders, maybe this will help with food!

Oh food, WTF! Happy Wednesday

Claire's Hat

Yesterday while pulling laundry from the dryer (oh how I wish I would put up the clothes line already!) Claire's hat came tumbling out. Somehow it had fallen off the shelf and into the dirty clothes.

Claire in the NICU (minus gavage!)

Tiny Claire coming home!

Claire yesterday!

When did they get so big? Really? Have I been in some drug induced haze? I'm a little depressed, especially since she started some very early crawling. She get on her hands and knees and pushes backward with her hands. So it's not forward motion but it's motion none the less! I think I'm now depressed and scared. They are going to take over! I'm going to go settle myself over some cookie dough!

I Forget

I forget, I forget a lot. I forget important things and not so important things.

I guess it's not the worst thing that could happen but it's awful annoying. Today I was reminded that I need to take my friend to practice parallel parking so she can get her license. Did I mention we took driver's ed together? 10 years ago!! I don't mid helping her out but it totally slipped my mind. So now I will be directing parallel parking, with babies in the back, right after lunch, at the local high school. Too many commas? Sorry, I was just trying to emphasize all the negatives! She is also over 6 feet tall so how she plans on compacting her body to fit with a car seat behind her is beyond me. This should be a fun exercise in space manipulation.

So what else is new?

DH got the girls to eat 8 bites each of food last night! I am amazed. He said he was more forceful and didn't fuss around with them. Maybe I am too nice about it? I still think babies need to come with instruction manuals. Being the slacker mom I am, I have still not schedule their next shots. They were suppose to go back in February but mother nature decided we need 5 feet of snow. Then it was just little piddling things and then I honestly just forgot. I should make that my goal for this week! That and to keep pushing along on my weight loss gig.

I've decided to work over spring break to give DH a taste of what his summer will be like playing Mr. MoM. But I am really regretting that. I don't want to work! Not now, not over summer, not ever! I also want these bills to stop appearing in my inbox. How this house used $280 worth of gas and electric last month is beyond me! OH WAIT! The blizzards! HA! I should tell them to hit up mother nature for this month's bill!

Lastly, something that has been floating around my little head. I do not know enough to really speak on the subject and have relied only on what I have heard and been told, and perhaps read in some new article in passing. With that disclaimer on the table, here goes:

Is the government going to pay for me to have another baby?

Yes I know, I'm crazy. But from what I heard......
You'll keep your insurance but no longer be denied coverage for pre-existing health conditions. Guess what DH's bills were denied for? Both of our insurances covered the IVF which was wonderful so if my company nixes our insurance in favor of something cheaper through the government than I would still have that coverage I'm assuming. With all the talk I overheard this weekend about funding abortion and not funding abortion, I think that they should take those funds and give them to IF! How great would that be? Lets fund more deductions that will grow up to be tax revenue! But seriously though, does anyone understand this? I am so out of the loop, I no longer keep up with anything! I just make sure the diapers and dishes are clean, the house has food and my bank account isn't completely barren!

8th of Spring and Baby Questions

Not only did my gifted, fabulous children turn 8 months old today, it also happened to be the first day of spring. How nice of mother nature to welcome in spring today! Especially with nearly 80 degree weather! Amazing!

Unfortunately I was working and missed both the festivities and warm weather. I even missed the free snowballs and italian ice being given out today! I feel like so much has changed yes nothing has changed, and all the while everything is constantly changing. Claire sits on her own now, and Emma does as well if she is in the mood. Emma is very much into standing, and would prefer to either sit or stand. The girl does not like to bend but looks like she might be our first crawler. She has started to scoot around on her belly. They were bother very active today according to DH's report. Claire has fallen in love with the sound of her squeals and screams and does do ALL THE TIME!

All this activity has made me realize the girls don't have a true play area. We have hardwood floors in our old house, two dogs and a cat. This means that there isn't a great area to just plop them down and let them go. There is a rug in their room, but their room is too cluttered with furniture and they always want to try to roll under their cribs. Weird. Their entertainers and swing are in the living room which is now void of furniture. Our family room is carpeted but it is in the basement and it is still cold down there and will be hot in the summer. Now that I can actually see mobility on the horizon I've decided they need an area, which will most likely be the living room. So people will walking to my house and be greeted by bright foam floor tiles and toys and entertainers!

Question 1: Does anyone have any experience with those foam floor tiles? Are they easy to maintain? How do I clean them, are the easy to clean, how regularly do they need to be cleaned?

Question 2: Does anyone have any experience with stand alone baby fences? I was thinking of making a fenced off part of the living room for them to give them their own area and keep the dogs out. Hopefully this will also keep it cleaner and result in me cleaning it less often!

Spring is officially here and I pulled out some cute capris for the girls to wear today. I never thought I would get excited over little girl clothes! Excuse the giant goodwill pile in the background. Our 8th month/welcome spring picture.

I am hoping to spend more time outside with the girls. I want to walk more but after that I am at a loss.

Question 3: What can one person do with two babies?

Summer is almost here which means BEACH TIME! I cannot wait. I am so excited. Of course this will be a new experience as our beach party has double in size and will probably triple in gear. DH and I are minimalist. We take towels and lunch, maybe a book and sunscreen.

Question 4: Has anyone braved the beach with a baby? Two babies?

I am thinking they will be mobile by the time we get there, possibly starting to walk. I've been shopping for a sun shelter or small pop up tent but the reviews are always dicey. I need to ask their doctor about baby sunscreen vs. adult sunscreen because I am all about sharing one bottle for the family but worry about Emma's pasty white, super pale, sensitive skin. The girl looks like casper. She could be a porcelain doll. Claire is about 2 shades darker. I feel bad for them coming from such pale stock, I don't want to take a long ride with two little lobsters. I also need to ask about how long they can be in the heat, yadda yadda. I feel that as long as they are sheltered, hydrated and it's not insanely hot-they'll be just fine. They will be almost a year old and there are babies who live in hotter climates with far fewer precautions. However I know if the amazing Dr. B say 20 minutes, I will be running back and forth to the car to give them their air conditioning break!

Question 5: Has anyone used a pump with a car adaptor? I'm getting ready to purchase the car adaptor so we can travel and I can pump, how awesome right? I am just worried it won't provide as much suction.

Last but not least on my catch-up post, feeding.
I've harped on this before, but the girls don't eat. Now that they've reached 8 months I feel they should at least be eating cereal, and eating regularly. So starting tomorrow, we eat! Any suggestions? I feel like they are falling behind and won't get to eat a cake on their birthday! They don't open their mouths unless tricked into doing so. They are still only eating a few baby spoons of food. What really alarms me is that they seem to still push food out which I think they should be past by now, even adjusting their age. So I've randomly decided after some research to start doing cereal in the morning and maybe a real food at dinner. I laid off cereal because I get the impression that it is just filler so I've been working on some fruits in veggies.

Question 6: How do you get them to eat???

Thanks for sticking with this long post. It's late and I can't sleep so I figured I'd bored someone else! Now I'm off to shop for some baby sandals since my daughters do not have shoes and all the other babies in town do!

WTF Wednesday

Let's start this WTF Wednesday early-at 4 a.m.!

What? That can't be! I have wonderful babies who sleep till 8 a.m.! That's right, 12 hour nights I and L-O-V-E it! Yesterday Claire was up 5 and this morning 4! I think she is sick/teething/has allergies/hates my face. Her little cheeks are red and she is a bit warm but nothing concerning. It's not 6:18 and I hear Emma starting to wiggle. WTF? This means that even though, after 2 hours, I've gotten Claire back to sleep I can't take her in to her room or else I'll be bring Em back to bed with me! GRRREAT! So much for my beauty sleep!

  • The babies and their whole lets not sleep and drive mommy crazy bit-WTF?!
  • The girls will be 8 months old Saturday-WTF-and still aren't on solids-WTF? I am a bad mom.
  • The ants haven't packed up and headed out of my house. Asses. So now I really have to make the home depot trip, with a double stroller, for ant bait. Really life? Is this the best you can do? WTF Stupid ants.
  • Having been up for two hours I just realized my head hurts, I have pressure behind me eye, my nose is stuffy and I don't feel right. I'm sick. Great. Thanks Claire. WTF? How am I going to get anything done with sickness plaguing this house?
  • Someone just coughed outside-WTF go to bed!
  • My bedside table is been taken over with baby toys, half assembled toys, and pumping supplies-WTF when did the babies take over?
  • Our new trick is grasping. DH thinks it's cute to let them grasp his hair so he'll tip his noggin down for them to grab a hank. WTF That's wonderful. Keep giving them new ways to torture me. Thanks! Claire also likes to grab at my face, with her talons out! Lovely.
  • Speaking of talons, I think Em is into self mutilations. She loves to pull her shirts up and scratch her belly. WTF No matter how short I trim her nails she still finds a way to leave her mark.
  • The weather has finally warmed up and all the snow has melted! SCORE! But now the ground is all muddy-WTF? Can't we enjoy spring? There are ruts into the grass along the side walks and mounds of dirt and mud everywhere. This double stroller doesn't off road!
  • The biggie-I've worked out for 9 days straight! GO ME! I've walked more. We've taken family walks. I've parked farther away! I've begun to watch what I eat(watched it go right into my mouth) and guess what??? I gained .7 lbs! WTF????? Seriously? Throw me a bone here!
Hopefully the Claire isn't sick, hopefully Emma doesn't catch her sisters not-sickness. Hopefully I can chock my symptoms up to seasonal allergies. I'm dreaming of the beach and a nice toned tummy (HA)! I'm hoping that baby crying in the other room is a figment of my imagination! It is still sleepy time!

Really? What else?

I woke up horrendously late! Really, really late! As in nearly 9 o'clock to babies crying.

I have been so tired recently and daylight savings hasn't helped. After feeing and playing with the girls they were getting really cranky so I put them down to nap. Their schedules are a little off thanks to the time change so I am just trying to go with the flow. They of course were fighting their nap. I go in to clean the bathroom because it's Monday-bathroom cleaning day! I find - ANTS! I would guess 5 million or so. After my mini panic attack (cause if it crawls/flys/stings/bites/creeps I hate it!) I remember that they don't like baby powder. Do you see where this is going?

I cover the bathroom in baby powder! Great idea! Lots of dust in the air, the upstairs smells like the stay puff marshmallow baby exploded, and.....the ants have MOVED! Not only did they move, they've called in reinforcements! WTF! So now there are 500 million in and around the sink. I had to notice them on the wall, I couldn't just look away! So now I really freak out and grab the first bottle of stuff I find under the sink-greenworks bathroom cleaner. I decided to kill them with safe, natural, non-toxic bathroom cleaner. I am a genius! So I wipe away ant concert and then re-clean the sink and walls. I go pee and...wait for it...find more ants! Crawling out of the trash can and up the vanity! Seriously! They are out for blood now. So I throw the trash can into the tub-note that I did this before I pulled my pants back up-and start running the water. So this annoyed the ants who come out of the trash can and crawl up the tub to escape the water. I stand on top of the toilet to grab the shower head hose and start spraying them down the drain, with my pants on the floor. Go me!

I leave the bathroom, it's stressing me out a bit too much and the ants seem to have left. Great. Now the girls are up. We get up, and get ready to eat. As I go to give Claire her bottle she opens her mouth like a little bird with her arms out and splash. She gets a face full of milk that covers her, my bed and my pants! Then she starts screaming (after she swallows) because I won't give her her bottle. So I throw some more milk in and she eats, covered in milk. I can't bathe her in the bathroom because it's a MESS in there so we do a wipe down. I vacate the upstairs. There is obviously some black cloud up there.

Down stairs everything is running much more smoothly. Em and Claire are in the entertainers, the dogs aren't whining. It's too quite. I start doing dishes and what to my wondering eye do a appear but 3 little ants scouting my counter so dear! CRAP! Why do they hate me? So I unload the dishwasher and re-load it. I get out my clorox wipes and clean EVERYTHING! Bleach should kill ants right? HA! I clean all the counters except for one little area and see few ants. Guess where this last little bit of counter space was?? If you guessed over the dishwasher where my birthday cake was sitting you'd be correct! Did you know ants LOVE cake? I mean really like it. I did manage to pull myself together and toss the cake out of the pan instead of tossing everything! I love my pyrex! Everything was cleaned in the kitchen, ants gone for the time being-because I know they'll come back, I just know it!

I start to let my guard down and the girls start bubbing, time for nap #2 since nap #1 was such a failure. I put them down and out they go! Great! Lets tackle the house. I start collecting recycling. I hear the dog hacking. I put him out to vomit so that is one thing I won't have to clean-GO ME! I turn to take the recycling out and nearly rip of my pinky toe. Of course the neighbor man has just returned home and I couldn't scream out. I can only imagine what he thought of me as I stood and admired my recycle bin in my pajama pants with tears streaming down my face! As I stood there I saw the dog ingest his vomit. Lovely. I come back in with the dog to find the other dog has gotten into the bathroom trash that was in the tub!

So here it is 1 o'clock. The babies are asleep. I am pumping. The dogs are trying to get rid of the covers on my bed and I need a nap. I am choosing to blame everything on DH. If he has tossed his cup in the kitchen trash, I believe none of this would have happened! I'll have a gently abused DH for immediate pick up Baltimore this evening if anyone is interested!

Getting To Know YOU!

I'm playing along with MannLand, are you?

The questions..

1. What's your favorite Easter candy?
Reese's Egg. Or homemade peanut butter balls. So basically chocolate and peanut butter!
2. Who do you think is cleaner..men or women?
Well being a woman I can definitely tell you it is in fact, women. Boys don't see mess, aren't bothered by mess, and are incapable of cleaning to any sort of established standard. To recap, not old do they have cooties, they are dirty.
3. Which do you prefer..wordy blog posts or ones with pictures?
Well, I am all about words so long is there is meaning behind them. I do love me so pictures though. So really, if the blogs aren't rambly like mine, I'm in love.
4. Were you popular in high school?
Hmmm, high school was how long ago? Ack! I think I was kinda in the middle to be honest. I was "in" with the popular kids, but I didn't necessarily do popular things. I was a bit of a smartie and stuck to myself. Lame right?
5. What's your bra size?
Ha! 36 DD. Thank you babies! Does anyone know where to get DD bathing suit tops? Apparently regular sizes (S M L XL) aren't made for above a C cup.
6. How many states have you lived in?
One. But find someone to buy my house and I'll make it two!
7. What's one blog you read every day?
One blog? No one blogs everyday! We have babies! I read what goog.lereader tells me to!
8. Peanut butter or Nutella?
Drool. Both with some marshmallow! Worlds best fluffernutter! Feeling fat? Put it on graham crackers!

After a long day of work and coming home to work out (go me, a whole week in the books) I wonder how I am going to make it through to tomorrow. This time change has thrown me off but hooray for more sunshine!

Precious

We made it out and back from Virginia. The rain turned the cook out into a cook in. The girls were their normal selves. I am finding that they are skiddish around lots of people, new people, and virtually anyone who is not...ME. It's nothing that worries me yet, but it just makes me anxious. It was good to sit with family and chat. I found out that in addition to having the family over for easter dinner, my Aunt and her husband(who from here out will be referred to as Uncle Jew) invited their poker friends. Really?? To easter dinner? I mean we have all poked fun at the irony of having Uncle Jew around for a nice ham dinner on Easter. I think their poker friends are a bit much though. So we will either be at SIL's or the beach. Right now I'm voting beach and some cracker barrel!!

So to my title...Precious. No I haven't seen the movie, but I've seen the star. Gabourey Sidibe. What the hell? Why hasn't anyone called her out on being huge? This might sound harsh but I just wonder why she is enjoying the lime light without anyone being concerned that she is obviously unhealthy. What is this world coming to??

Two Babies, One Funeral

I know what you're thinking, everyone told me not to do it. I decided not to do. As I am drying my hair and trying to run out the door to get to this service I hear my phone. My mother requested the babies' presences-AT THE SERVICE! What the hell? Why didn't I just say no?

Luckily it was a memorial service. No tears, no weeping. My uncle was all fun and games, and that spirit was there tonight. So the girls, and their screaming, was over looked. My babies like to freak out at strangers, at lot of strangers, at strange locations. I worry that staying home with them is the root of this problem. But I know they are babies, I'll save my worries till they're 3.

So how do you tell your parents no? That is something I need to learn, stat!

Matronly

That's how I feel. I went to target today and found a wonderful dress that I will be able to use for the service as well as use again! Score! It had fallen on the floor off the clearance rack and as I picked up to move it out of the way, after the double beast of a stroller ran over it, I noticed it was just what I wanted! Plain, simple, black. On clearance. Half off. My size. GRRRREAT!

Dish soap, sandwich baggies and out the door! Those other 40 minutes spend in Tarjay were part of the browsing, the part I most look forward to. Where I can look at things, pick them up, touch them, imagine them in my house, imagine them being eaten by my dogs, and then carefully placing them back. I of course forgot the ant stuff, so I am sure I will wake up to 50 million ants invading my house tomorrow morning thanks to the rain!

Back to my dress. It makes me feel matronly. I was explaining it to my cousin and we agreed that it was probably less the dress and more the boobage. I feel like "they" are out of control. They take up the entire top half of the dress. The start at my chin and stop just above my belly button. They make the dress all weird. They need to go somewhere with their bad selves! Yes I'm obsessed with my boobies. I know. But you have to admit, they are pretty amazing features! I think they save me about $100 a month! Go boobs!

I feel really bad for not taking this service for my uncle more seriously. What am I suppose to do though? Fake sorrow and anguish? I know my mother will probably geek out and cry, cry of the man she spend the last 30 years cursing. My father will be stoic and try to be the family patriarch, I believe his life goal is to turn into my grandfather. I'll see members of that side of the family for probably the last time in my life. But I'm not sad. Is that sad? We're so disconnected. They are more life acquaintances, people from the "old neighborhood", people I used to know. We live in the same city, the same town, and just blocks away from each other yet we are worlds apart with very little linking us together other than a name I no longer have. Hopefully my elitist attitude will tuck itself away and I can sit in peace in a corner by myself till I am allowed to leave, or till something interesting happens. Perhaps a family fight when feuding members cross paths or someone seeking me out. Ultimately this whole even, at least in my eyes, is a dog and pony show for a man who lived a less than stellar life and who is leaving behind a less than desirable legacy. I think that is what saddens me most.

Enough depressing thoughts. I have laundry to fold, diapers to change and dinner to make for two lovely ladies!!

He's Gone!

DH finally went back to work! The house was so quiet today without him though. The girls were a bit off and Emma spend most of her morning feed looking for him. The upside to his departure is that I was able to get back into my groove, I was able to but I didn't. I let myself be spoiled by his being home. I had to make my own lunch! WTH? So I really didn't eat. I think a third of what needed to get done today has gotten done. Productivity is low at the homestead today friends!

So my pressing question of the day deals with babies-no surprise. Do you take your baby(ies) to functions and events? I mean cookout are totally fine, but what about weddings and funerals? I have to go to the service, but DH could easily stay home and watch the girls. However if they are with me I have an easy out. Funeral homes give me the creeps. I'd rather not think about mortality if I don't have to, thanks! I feel obligated to show off my children, perhaps show off isn't the best wording, as with the passing of my uncle this side of the family has pretty much disintegrated.

Saturday I'll be at going my mother's side of the family for a cook-out. Grilled roast beef. I'm bring a crab ball and pumpkin roll and brownies. I'm a little ambitious. I'll be taking the babies but feel guilty for doing so if DH doesn't accompany me. He works and misses a lot of time with the girls so whenever I'm taking them away from him I feel bad. I know in a few years, months maybe even next week I won't feel this way but for now I'm not sure how to split family time.

My Last Birthday

I was so excited for this...

WTF Wednesday

So my first full day another year old, went about as smoothly as any other with a few kinks thrown in. Who doesn't love them some good old fashioned kinks? So enjoy some new, tantalizing WTF moments from the last three days!

  • My uncle died. WTF? He survived divorce, losing part his memory (and sanity) in a bike accident, drug abuse, and losing his dignity only to be taken down by hospital scum? Really? WTF? Then there was no viewing or funeral, to there is a memorial and ash scattering, to you can go see him in another state before he is cremated and then we'll bring his remains back here to have a service. WTF? What would some random holy person say about him? He'd kill you with laughter after he robbed you blind? [Side note: I'm not a heartless bastard. Everyone has a time and his death wasn't totally unexpected. I, along with the vast majority of the family, really expected to find him dead in a gutter, OD'ed, or to just lose him all together to some scary "underworld". Yes I did love my Uncle in the typical niece/uncle manner and he was a hilarious man, he just chose to live his life in a very questionable way the goes against the values and beliefs that run in our family. ]
  • After become a mother you still have birthdays! Who knew! I've been through IF, IVF, pregnancy, delivery and the newborn stage and I still have to grow older? WTF? It was a nice birthday none the less, I have a fantastic husband!
  • I was treated to a wonderful birthday surprise, FONDUE! I got a fondue dessert, neatly prepared by my wonderful husband! He still has tricks up his sleeve! WTF? What will he do next? I had three salad plates of goodies to dip and enjoy. This diet is going wonderfully!
  • I bought a pair of mom-pants for my birthday! Complete with elastic in the waistband. WTF?
  • My friends treated me to pizza and I ended up paying for cake! WTF?
  • Why do people open their mouths? We're surrounded by other tables admiring Em (I brought her with me since Claire and I went to the car wash yesterday) and my friend announce that I "have another at home" which started everyone asking a million questions. Seriously, did she have to say that? Whatever happened to not talking to strangers? WTF?
  • Lastly, the water main. As in the giant water main that broke which has kept the schools closed for 3 days and kept DH home and under foot. It's nice to have him home, and I love the extra help. However, it's time for him to go! How long can it take to fix a water main, that is in under a creek, in a protected wetland buffer zone with no road access? WTF? Who puts a water main there? Why did it take forever to find the break? And why does the city control the water system in the county? Can't we just buy the water and control the infastructure ourselves? WTF?
Yeah, it's only Wednesday. I can't wait to see what the rest of the week has in store! Clothes shopping, gift shopping, diaper shopping, bill paying, NOT making cookies, and NOT working! SO so so much to blog about but my crocheting is calling!

Late Night

Welcome to honesty. This is my blog and no longer will I sensor it. Consider this far warning to any real-life people-DH! Now that we have that disclaimer out of the way...

Late in the evening is my least favorite part of the day. It doesn't matter the day, whether I've worked or not, or whether DH has been home or not. Back when we were dating, DH was a light sleeper. He wouldn't be able to sleep longer than 4 or 5 hours and would wake when I rolled over in bed. We could stay up till the early morning just talking. He could stay up late, wake up early and still have energy to do it again the next night. Those days are in the past. So I am left by myself from roughly 10 on each evening. I'm pretty lonely. I would just lay down and go to sleep myself but I have to stay up for another pumping session. I find myself wishing I had the determination, energy and know how to teach the girls to nurse again. I'm sick of all this pumping for such little milk. Picking up this extra shift has really hurt my supply but I really want the girls to get as much BM as possible.

I've tried to do stuff around the house but it's to quiet and eerie. I get a little jumpy and go sit in bed. I surf the net and have recently started watching the shows DH would never dare let air on his tv! Tonight I'm watching Blood, Sweat and Takeaway. It's a great distraction from NOT having a night time snack. That's right, no snack tonight. I'm dying without it too. This morning was the official re-start of our quazi-diet-eating-better-defating project. I'm not big on dieting, I love food and this time I need to buckle down. DH was amazing this morning, he planned our entire morning out to the minute. He had bottles ready this morning, made us breakfast, cleaned up, we put the girls down for their morning nap and than he ushered us down to the family room to jump on Wii. I was proud that I selected a medium-intensity work out and finished it. I was disappointed that right before I finished I feel over, out of breath, flopping like a fish. The most breath-taking moment of our morning work out session was weigh ourselves. It has been 88 days since I last weighted myself. In those 88 days I've gained 8 lbs. Do you know how much I weigh?

Take this...

and ADD about 5 lbs! This was 32 weeks.

Yikes!

133 lbs. if I remember correctly, maybe it was 134. Did I mention I got down to around 110 after the girls were born? YEAH, I stay home and eat. That's a bad thing. But I can't take responsibility for my fatness, and I can't blame my metabolism for stabbing me in the back. Let's blame Emma and Claire. I'm sure they grabbed my metabolism for themselves on their way out! Here's to fewer cookies and longer walks!

Oh, and a bedroom color has been decided! Yay!
It's by behr, it's called heather plume UL250-7 if you're curious. You should check it out, DH picked it and I think I'm overly excited. Now I just have to patch the plaster in some places, yes plaster not drywall because my house is hella old, and off to paint! This new paint is paint+primer so hopefully one coat and done but I know nothing is ever that easy! Oh look, I can pump and go to bed! Good night all.

Big Girls Weekend

It was without pomp and ceremony that the seats were installed on the stroller today. We've ditched using the car seats and went head on for strapping them into the proper stroller seats. Crazy right?

Well "we" didn't, DH did. Seeing my little babies in their "big girl" seats was a little heart breaking I will admit. I was all into putting the seats on as they are starting to out grow their car seats, but seeing these tiny babies in these huge seats reminded me that they're aren't as big as I like to think sometimes. Did I mention the he WALKED up to work to show me the stroller? As he WALK from our HOUSE to my STORE? Yeah, way to make me look like a fat ass, thanks! According to the internet it's just over 4 miles. So I guess it's time to take my big girl pill and start getting my arse in motion. I'm setting my goals a little lower though. Monday I'll be walking to the post office. This is of course if the weather is warm enough, it's not raining, and I can't think of any other excuse. I am probably going to have to go into the side entrance and wait till some weird hour to avoid the old people.

This weekend has been rather nice. I wish I didn't have to work so I could enjoy the nicer weather with the fam. Did I mention the nice weather? It's nearly 50 degrees! Did I tell you there is STILL snow in the yard? Granted it has almost completely melted but it's still there, reminding me the Phil saw his shadow and that a freak storm could cripple the county at any time. Ugh. Tomorrow is suppose to be beautiful and I am jealous DH will be home with the girls. :(

Hopefully we'll decide on a bedroom color tonight before cookies and bed. I want to hear everyone's opinion because I don't know what I want in a bedroom, I just know that I don't want this green anymore! It's a total downer now. Bedrest made me hate my house!

Thoughtful or Thoughtless?

I'm just not sure how to reason some people and situations. Friday's story starts with an oil change. The one that is 5,000 miles over due! I called ahead and had them order the oil filter so everything would be ready to go. They like to make us wait 3 hours while they crawl to the dealer up the street. Well I went later in the day because me getting up and out the door is a quite a feat early in the morning!

I get there around lunch time hoping to find an empty lot. HA! I was the 7th car in line with at least 10 cars in the shop already. I go in and confirm they received the filter and Mr. Deskman tells me that he ordered and received my part but its going to be a couple hours. HOURS? Why is it always hours for an oil change? This is exactly why DH doesn't get the oil changed! So Mr. Deskman tells me I should come back since I have "them" with. I tell him I'll send my husband early tomorrow morning and leave. I'm slightly pissed that a simple oil change is always a fiasco with this car and curious as to what he was trying to imply. Maybe he was looking out for "them" and thought a noise garage wasn't the place for babies or maybe he didn't want to hear them fuss. Maybe he didn't want to listen to me bitch about not wanting to wait hours for my car with two whining babies. Maybe I'm just paranoid. All I know is the car needs it's oil changed, bad, and they aren't helping. What's wrong with appointments?

Does anyone else get this with their babies? I enjoy the special attention most of the time. I love people being kind and helpful, so long as they aren't intrusive. I can't stand the redundant twin questions but I understand people's curiosity. How does everyone deal with the people you meet out and about?

I need to be more sociable.

WTF Wednesday

Yes I am writing this Tuesday evening and setting it to post at midnight-shoot me.

Today's WTF moment-a commercial.

I saw the first commercial at just stared at the TV in disbelief. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I mean I was dumbfounded and laughing and somewhat hurt all at the same time. Ok so not really hurt, more laughing and wanting to meet the genius behind this. And maybe a little sad. But mostly shocked. Shocked and laughing. But seriously, WTF?
SO....go watch it!

Tuesday

It most certainly is Tuesday. I have most certainly not done a single thing. It is a wonderful day for nothing isn't it Rebecca! It's over cast and very dreary out. The girls started nap time early so I've layed back down in my unmade bed and started watching my new show. My only concrete plan for the day is fitting with the husband this evening after the girls are in bed. Maybe we'll go out for a stroll or hit Tarjay.
