I worked early shifts this weekend so I could have time after work to be part of the world outside my house! Amazing right? Well Saturday I was pushed into bingo. I did have fun and it was nice to get out and be an adult. Longaberger isn't really my style but I would have loved to win one for my MIL. Before we went to bingo I did the dreaded shopping trip with my mother and sister. Two and a half hours of my life in a burli.ngton.coat.fact.ory. That recently opened. During a big sale weekend. The weekend before easter. Shoot me in the face! My mother must be stupid. I mean that with love. Who takes kids into such madness?
So there I was with a double stroller trying to navigate this madness. This store is very much not my style but they did have some decent clothes. The girls ended up getting three outfits, three pairs of shoes, and a sleeper each. Did I mention it was a madhouse? And that I don't shop at store like this? I don't shop at that mall because honestly, it's trashy. It's run-down and unkept and very much not me. My displeasure was painfully obvious. I apparently was very red and short of breath on top of my cold which left my mother constantly asking if I was alright. Another aggravation in addition to my sister, yes the devil herself who was the root of this expedition. She works at said store and was eligible for a 25% discount-hence we were shopping there and then. After mother and devil took an hour to ponder childrens clothes I thought for sure I was free and clear. Turns out the devil needed work shoes and mother and I stood with babies(who are far heavier when you're sick and tired) while she pondered the same pair of shoes for 15 minutes. They didn't have her size when she started talking to the shoe boy....but I digress(HAHA she didn't have a chance!). Then I'm trudging to check out when I'm summoned to the juniors department. The devil needs some new slut-wear. Yes, I'm mean but rest assured it is totally justified. Think molded, form fitting, padded bra top, lace up, lacy, tramp wear. So gross. What is worse is my mother lets her wear it! I find myself saying all the time "My girls will never..." and boy was I taking notes! So finally almost two hours later we head to customer service who's line is wrapped through the two departments. People are checking out my children, I'm too agitated to talk and resort to nodding and shielding my children. I ended up with fussy babies and mother walking me to my car.
I should really be thankful, and I am. I do not like to shop at such places, I don't like crowds, I don't like people! I hate waiting, I hate lines, I hate box stores. I hate trash, crud and people who live questionable lifestyles. Call me snobby but I just like to think I hold the bar high. Had be gone to a nice side of town, a different mall, some place that isn't on a bus line that has massive security monitoring the doors that trip could have been much nicer. How can I tell my mother we can just come over? She literally lives 4 minutes away-walking! It takes longer to drive than to walk. I would even let the girls on her un-vacuumed floor! She doesn't have to buy our time like she does my sister. I'm the good child, please recognize this!
Tomorrow we are headed to the beach. When I get home I'll blog about MIL's 70's Semi-surprize party and post some pics! It did go smoothly and we are planning more family get togethers which I think is wonderful. I hope everyone had as wonderful a weekend as my family sans the shopping trip.
This week is spring break for DH so he will be home with us. Luckily he was today as my typical Monday bathroom cleaning turned into ripping the tub apart and some small home repairs. Mold-gross. Luckily I caught it in time and am super mom! Why are there windows in showers? Really? Lets think people! If we weren't leaving tomorrow I would have ripped out the tub surround and put in actual tile but I'm not willing to sacrifice a trip! Thanks to that fiasco we are only 7% packed and tomorrow I have to tidy the house and get everything ready! I can't come home to a dirty house! It's nearly midnight and I have to get up early to make sure everything is in order before we leave!
