Snow-Day Lessons

I thought my plan was brilliant! When you're trapped inside for another snow day, why not make use of the time? I tried my best to be productive.

De-junking the junk drawer.

I suppose most people just have a proper place for everything. My lovely catch-all here was dangerously close to not shutting. I saw a problem and took action!

The second problem I tried to remedy blew up all over the sofa.

The outcome was less than pleasing for all involved. Shoe tying! Who knew this would be an ordeal?! My children learned to walk, speak, read & write, add & subtract, and use the potty with ease; shoe tying is apparently for the birds.

One child doesn't have laced shoes. This child has proclaimed she will never have laced shoes, ever.

The other child eagerly purchased lace-up tennis shoes hoping to learn. This child now eagerly makes the first knot and thrusts her foot out for me to finish.

:/

Tips? Tricks?

Am I expecting too much? It does take some dexterity. I was late to learn, but I really thought this would be easy for them. Each morning we try, and I've used multiple attempts. I even learned a new way! (Which was horribly more complicated than it needs to be!) I realize this isn't the end of the world but COME ON!
You can't wear c.rocs for the rest of your life!
